Cheery
Cheery joints the Spirit House Family with her contribution to the Spirit House Sessions.
TRACK 1: “Concept of Love” is about battling it out with yourself over what is rational or irrational in love.Cheery, being an Atheist, compares it to the conflict of religion, and knowing what or what not to believe in.
TRACK 2: A cover of Bright Eyes' “A Spindle, A Darkness, A Fever, and a Necklace” was chosen and recorded because Conor Oberst is the reason Cheery pursued music in the way she has. Cheery says "His lyricism shaped my own growing up and the transparency of emotion he's able to put into his storytelling is so genuine that it taught me how to express myself deeply and honestly through songwriting and performing, no matter how messy it can feel at times."
India Blue
India Blue shines on her first Spirit house release and contribution to the Spirit House Sessions.
TRACK 1: After rewatching the 1973 British Folk-Horror ‘The Wicker Man’ India was inspired to write the single “Power” calling upon the brooding, lilting soundtrack written by Paul Giovanni. Some of this musical influence can be heard in the atmospheric yet simple piano line that drones throughout the single.
TRACK 2: A cover of SpiroGyra’s “Love Is A Funny Thing” was chosen and recorded after a conversation with His Grace Kripamoya Prabhu at India’s local Hare Krishna sangha. Kripamoya Prabhu was telling India about a ‘faerie-folk’ band he was once friends with ‘SpiroGyra’ which led India to a night of blissful music discovery. “Love Is A Funny Thing” is a sweet and short song.
Spirit House Sessions is a series of singles produced to highlight the artists of Spirit House Records.
